Already Dead Inside

Can you see me…here in the dark? I am alive, but already dead inside. I am hiding, in my tortured mind. I am slipping…slipping slowly away. Gone forever, from this living hell.

Most local pet stores get there puppies from places called ‘puppy mills’ where carless, greedy people keep them in cramped, filthy, miserable conditions for the sole purpose of producing offspring for them to sell. Although those cute little puppies in the pet store windows may look healthy and have a family tree a mile long, they are often affected with terrible diseases and it’s not uncommon for them to die shortly after being purchased. Those that don’t die often have to have vet treatment that can cause thousands of dollars. Puppies purchased from small venders on the side of roads or at markets are often from the same places, although the breeders may try to tell you otherwise. These dogs cost an incredible amount of money, but they come from a virtual living hell. If you’re going to get a new puppy, adopt from a shelter, an individual who’s giving them away to good homes, or a reputable breeder who will let you come to their home, see where the puppies are being kept, and let you interact with both the parents.
